Consortium

PPILOW brings together 23 partners from 9 countries across Europe gathering the required expertise on pig and poultry welfare and robustness and a wide panel of European field practices for organic and low-input outdoor farming to achieve the project goals.
This multi-actor consortium led by INRAE,  involves as full partners organic and traditional farmer associations (AIAB, BioForum, SlowFood), breeders (SYSAAF representing five French breeding companies including hatcheries), nutrition and insect-rearing firms (Fermentation experts and Circular Organics, respectively), animal housing designer (Vanggaard Staldmontage), leading research and technical institutes (EV ILVO, Luke, CNRS, CRAW, Thuenen, ACTA) and Universities (UU, AU, WU, HAU, UNIPG, JUNIA, USAMV), the European Federation of Animal Science (EAAP) and consumers representatives (notably via AIAB and SlowFood). Project coordination by INRAE will be ensured with the experienced support of IT. Together these partners contribute interdisciplinary, with already strong experience of cooperating on the same EU projects and providing unique expertise in social science, economics, farm animal science (behaviour, welfare, nutrition, health, genetics, housing, product quality, and adaptability to outdoor area), multi-criteria analysis and field practices.
